White Crane Mythology

Cranes are symbols of longevity and immortality. The White Crane can fly to the Heavens and it is a Chinese Symbol for “Wisdom” and is sometimes called “Heavenly” or “Blessed” crane. In many parts of the world Crane is regarded as the messanger of the Gods. Their long migration made them symbols of endurance and their wings were once used as “Talismans” to protect travelers from exhaustion.

White Crane Qigong develops balance, lightness and agility. The Crane cools and relaxes your body, balances the heart energy, gently stretches your ligaments and releases your spine. The Crane exercise strengths the heart organ system and benefits the circulation and lungs. The Crane must be light and soaring, calm and tranquil. Avoid heaviness and clumsiness the classics say “The Crane is graceful, standing like a pine. It opens its wings and soars into the clouds. Spreading its wings, it lands, poised on one leg the Qi rises and sinks with no sense of heaviness”.
